Ian, since you did Joomla authentication integration I know that you've been asked frequently if you've considered supporting other CMSes. (Says she who is running drupal, whose calendar system just isn't up to par.)
What about OpenID instead? I will admit to being more ignorant of the mechanics of supporting it than perhaps I should be, but I wonder if that might be a "one auth module to rule them all" answer.
