| Is it possible to have sub-category drop-downs. By this I mean you would first choose category (Main Audience:Men, Women, Youth - choose one) and then sub category (Type of Event:Workshop, Fitness, Social - choose one) |

Hi Jenn,
There are no sub-categories What people usually do is create a calendar for each of these; Main Audience:Men, Women, Youth, then categories under each of those calendars. |

Thanks for the reply Ian. That is what I am going to try ... it makes for a lot of different calendars though. I have no idea how many I am going to have ... at least 50 though and maybe a couple of hundred. All of my calendars are viewable to the public (I plan to combine and organize them into views).
This gives me a problem with the nav bar dropdown for choosing calendars. What I would like is when someone (not registered) comes to the site and seeks to choose calendar they will have the choice (Men's View, Women's View, Youth's View). When they sign in I would then like them to see (Men's View, Women's View, Youth's View, Men's Calendar, Women's Calendar, Youth's Calendar). If they sign in and are part of my group "Special" they will then see (Men's View, Women's View, Youth's View, Men's Calendar, Women's Calendar, Youth's Calendar, Special Men's Calendar, Special Women's Calendar, Special Youth's Calendar).
There are going to be a lot of choices, and I just want to hide these choices from as many people as possible. Remember ... all calendars are viewable by everyone, just not updatable by everyone.
Have I totally confused you?
Thanks,
Jenn |

As soon as I hit "submit" I thought of a work-around ... or at least part of one. I use your page maker module to create views that I can link to. I then disable the calendar drop down in the default options. I then create a page with frames, one for the calendar drop down that I make myself using the links from page maker and one for the calendar itself.
Now all that I need to figure out how to do is send them to the right navbar frame based on what group they are a member of. I am not a PHP expert but can usually figure out how to do something as long as I know it is possible Is this possible?
Thanks.

Hi Jenn,
People have run Thyme with hundreds of calendars so this should not be a problem.
I don't think the work-around is needed. We'll use your examples.
*) Create your Special group and add which ever users you want to it.
*) Create your 4 Calendars. Mens, Womens, Youth, Special. For Men's, Women's and Youth's, add "Registered Users" to the members list. For Special, add the Special group to it's members list.
*) Create your 3 views under as Global Views in the calendars section of Thyme. For each of these, choose the option "Allow everyone to see all calendars in this View ...". Add the calendars to these as well.
This should get you what you want. Let me know if you have any trouble. |

I was getting killed because I was using Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) and never saw those options (to let everyone see all calendars)
Now I am on Firefox and happy!
Thanks Ian.
