Ok, it had required more modification than I had originally thought. Download http://www.extrosoft.com/products/thyme/updates/1.3/request-access.zip It contians 3 files.
Upload class.access.php and class.calendar_real.php to include/classes
Upload events.php to include/
I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a little further tweeking. Let me know how it goes. |

Registered users but not posters i set them to new access level(Event Requestors), and log in and can sen event requests but when click on + sign get Access denied, so it works here.
When i log in with one of the users included in the "Posters" group(with access level Normal), i get to the create event screen, i insert the event details and when i click on "Save" i get:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::can_edit() in C:\DeV\Apache2\htdocs\mysite\THYMe\include\events.php on line 213 |

Hmm, I need this too!
If I may suggest, I think the user rights can be done like the following. Consider the following access levels:
View - view only
Create - create events
Approve - can approve events
Admin - can access backend admin
Each user or group can be assigned with any number of the access levels above.
Guest system account will have View checked by default.
Initial Admin account will have the four tasks checked by default.
I envision that in Admin>Calendars>Edit>Members>Access Level, there would be four checkboxes rather than just one drop down.
I hope this makes sense. |

it still doesn't work. I log in with one of the users included in the Posters group(access level Normal). Now when i press the save button, after filling the event details, instead of the previous error, i get logged out, i am sent to the main motnh view, and the new event has not been saved at all.
Event requestors(without posting permission) works fine though.
Cheers,
NiCo
And in reply to rsuplido. I think you are forgetting one. The ideal access levels would be 5:
1) View-Only/Guests
2) Can View & Request Events
3) Can Post New Events, and Edit/Delete own events
4) Can Approve Event Requests
5) Cand do anything plus administer the backend
In my opinion, of course,
Cheers,
NiCo |

I like that idea:
View Only
Event Requestor
Event Enterer
Moderator
Admin
Need better wording for event requestor and event enterer maybe. |

smeallum,
Regarding the event request access.. I have it working here. Can I have the url and an admin login to your calendar please? It would be great if I could get FTP access. |

Ian:
Regarding the wording, here is my suggestion:
For the naming of the user groups:
Guests/Visitors
Registered users
Event Creators/Posters/Organizers
Event Supervisors
Calendar Administrators
For their possible Access Levels(respectively would be the most common assignation though not necessarily)
view-only
view & request
create/post
approve/manage
all + administer/total permission
I understand that "view-only" and "view and request" would be valid for all the existing calendars, while the access levels above theme would be valid on a per-calendar basis. There would only be one access level that would be above all those that would be superuser, which would have all the access levels for ALL the calendars, plus setting access level & revoking them, etc...
Concerning access level to my site no problem. I will set it up on monday, and will let you know. However i warn you that there isn't much data to play with yet, as i am doing the basic testing. Feel free to modify anything you want both in data or in configuration.
Cheers,
Nicolas
P.D: By the way, i see you use PHBB forums on your Joomla site, right? I have a dilemma on which forum system to use. Is it just that you chose to integrate PHBB some time ago when there were less forum options available for Joomla and now you just stick with it, or would you still choose it today? |

| I only tried 1 other forum; Simple Forum. It lived up to it's name and was a little too simple. phpBB works fine. If I did it again I'd probably do a little more reserch because I have seen better ones out there since, but I don't feel "stuck" with it. http://extensions.joomla.org is a good place to search. You can read reviews and other people's experiences before you install. |

Ok, sorry got back to this post so late... FYI: the Access Levels modifications to have one extra level(moderators) done with your help worked smoothly.
I appreciate that you have included this as a must be for future releases. Thank you very much.
Cheers,
NiCo
P.D: In the end i decided to bridge the fabulous SMF Forum in my Joomla/CB site |
