If I use Thyme it will be with Joomla. I would not use Thyme as a typical calendar, rather my site will list local entertainment events such as music concerts, theater plays, comedy shows, etc.
I'd like to know the following:
Can Thyme be adapted so that each event is be linked to a venue? I don't see where Thyme has that built-in, nor do I see where custom fields can be added. I'm looking at another Joomla component to handle the venues, so really what I'd need to do is link each event in Thyme to the venue that's been created in this other component . The key, it seems, would be the ability to extend an event listing so that it includes the venue ID / name from the list of venues in the other component.
If the above is possible, could Thyme's display be extended so as to be searched / filtered by venue. I see that is currently possible based on category. I'd need the same for venues.
Can a registered, logged-in user add an event from a public calendar to their private calendar? For example, does each event have a link or button to add this event to the user's private calendar? If not, would this be hard to implement?
Do I get the source code when buying the app?
According to your description of the visittioga.com calendar, S-Go created an events subscription feature. I'd need this. Is that not built-in to Thyme? Would it be hard to add?
Is it hard to write a module to extend the functionality? For example, if I were able to bridge Thyme and this other venue component, I'd want to modify the venue detail listing to pull any events from Thyme that pertain to that venue.
Does eXtrovert do customization work?
Are day and week views built-in?
Thanks,
Scott |

Hi Scott,
Thyme has a locations / venue add-on that can be found here. This adds venue_id (location_id really) etc..
A registered user may not add an event to their calendar. There is no shortcut functionality in Thyme. This would take quite a bit of hacking. This would have to pulll from the originating calendar and the event would not be editable beyond removing the "shortcut" from the user's calendar.
The same files that are encoded in the trial are encoded in the full version.
The subscriptions through Joomla feature that S-Go created is not built in to Thyme's Joomla integration. The question of how hard it is to add depends on the person adding it. I can't imagine it would be all that hard.
Writing a module to filter on venue would not be hard. This is built into Thyme when you install the locations add-on. It would be a matter of moving the filter into Joomla Studio.
All custom development slots are filled through the end of the year. There are a few consultants that also do custom Thyme development. If you want to use the contact form to request this, I can give you some e-mail addresses / web-sites.
Day and week views are built-in.
Let me know if you have any more questions. |
