Hi Ian,
You have a great product. I wonder though how easy it would be to tweak it or adapt for my uses, which would often involve processing event requests from the public.
So would I need to contract for customization, or can any of these items be handled easily?
1. I'm in Canada, so I would like to change the ST and ZIP terms used in the New Event/Location screen to Province and Postal Code. (Hey, maybe you should offer a Canadian version.)
2. Can icons be edited, or even better, the option removed from the New Event/General screen?
3. Can the Flag this Event option be removed from the New
Event/General screen.
4. Expecting that some users will not want to enter a duration
time, or will overlook it, can the default be set to 0 hrs and then
not show an ending time on the calendar. I notice that it now
defaults to one hour after the start time if the duration is set at 0
hrs
5. Is there a way to place explanatory text above the calendar,
or is that best accomplished through a Joomla page module?
Finally, would you have any thought on why I get a "no such file or directory" error message when trying to navigate to the install.php file? I finally gave up and used a different domain for testing, but the licensed version must go on the original domain. I did everything exactly the same on both sites.
Thanks,
Bill |

Hi Bill,
Thanks
1) There is a Canadian version, but I guess ST and ZipCode were overlooked. I'll get that added to the Canadian language file. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
2) You may add or remove icons from Thyme's event_icons folder. To remove the option entirely; edit include/templates/event_edit_tmpl.php and comment out the line containing:
| Code: |
| $_cal_tmpl->section_row(_ICON_, $icon); |
Do this like so:
| Code: |
/*
$_cal_tmpl->section_row(_ICON_, $icon);
*/
|
.. put /* before it and */ after it. This is about at line 740, but searching for _ICON_ should get you there as well.
3) At line 718 in that same file, comment out:
| Code: |
$_cal_tmpl->section_row(_FLAG_, $_cal_form->checkbox("flag",
($_cal_event->flag == 1 ? 'checked' : ''))." " . _FLAG_THIS_);
|
with /* */ just as you did the ICON line. This is at line 718, but searching for _FLAG_ should get you there.
4) Doing this would probably require much more modification than you think. There are a lot of places where math is done based on the start time and duration. So, no I'm sorry. Not really.
5) If you're going to be using Joomla Studio, go ahead and use a Joomla Studio page. That would be best.
Re: install.php. No, I have not seen that before. It does exist? Is it the web server saying that it does not exist? May I have the URL please?
Let me know if you have any more questions at all. |

Actually .. it does say City , Postal Code in the Canadian translation. This may be an easily overlooked option during Thyme's installation. To change it afterwards, edit include/config.php in Thyme's folder and change en_US to en_CA.
Let me know if you have any questions / trouble. As well as if you find any thing that should be changed.
Thank you |

Thanks, Ian. You're mighty quick. That sorts out a lot for me. I'm sending you the URL via PM. The directory does exist, but is not being found.

I also have the "locations" module added.
I have modified the include/config.php to be "en_CA"
How would I change the
Zip to Postal Code (PC)
plus in the locations module there is
City / State which should be
City / Province
Is there a localization step I have missed, or do I need to edit some files?
thank-you! |

Hi,
Sorry for any inconvenience. The locations module is not translated due to the large variance in locales. You may change these phrases in the file modules/locations/language.php in Thyme's folder. |
