Hi, I work for a small/medium company and we are wanting to get a schedualing system and do not want to get involved with a MS Exchange/Lotus Domino mangment overhead. we want something simple/cheap/does everything easily!

I am think of putting in a internal web cms possibly Joomla that all employees can access in our company to update with news, evens and company resorces. We also want to add in schedualing. Our hopes are this:

We have about 30-40 people that need a calendar. we have different departments:

Admin
Sales
Service
Delivery
Office Staff (possibly)

Admin should be able to view each other department by individual, as well as by group. delivery and service should be able only to view their own and that of their group, but not of other groups, and Sales should only view their own personal (not other sales people), and that of service and delivery. and then we would like one global calendar that would have company events.

Sounds like we are asking for alot, is Thyme able to do this? can it handle this volume of users? are we screwed and have to goto something like exchange?

Also i would assume we would install a dedicated linux server to host this. is it easy to make a backup rutien so that all the data would be saved?

Thank You.

Hi,

30-40 users is no problem at all.

RE: Admin should be able to view each other department by individual, as well as by group. delivery and service should be able only to view their own and that of their group, but not of other groups, and Sales should only view their own personal (not other sales people), and that of service and delivery. and then we would like one global calendar that would have company events.

All of this depends on how you would like the calendars set up. Assuming each dept has their own calendar, most of this is possible. You would not be able to filter by individual, only by calendar and event category. For Sales, each person would get their own private calendar only visible to that person. Sales could also be given access to the Service Deliver calendar. You can also have a global calendar visible by everyone.

A dedicated server is not necessary. Most people host Thyme in a shared web hosting account.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
