|
|
I've installed Joomla. I can create and edit pages/components fine and preview them within the program itself. But if I click "view", I get a 500 internal server error in return. The filepath is correct and the documents exist on the server, but I can't view them.
Same happens when I try to view them directly through my file manager or input the URL directly into the browser.
I have no idea what could be wrong.
In a related but slightly different occurance, I can, say, create an index.php file. I can bring up the page in a browser and the it works properly, but none of the designated styles appear. No fonts, colors, borders, etc. It's like the file has lost connection with its stylesheet. And I don't know where that sheet is kept. |

Hi,
I see where you mean - In the Project Manager. Some servers require that certain permissions be set on script files in order for them to be viewed directly. I believe this is the case for your server. Stick to viewing them in the preview window. It is essentially the same thing.
In the page you have, the styles are applied. I did notice that none of the components had "Auto publish" selected, so when you saved your changes, they weren't actually being published. The page preview shows only the published changes. I've set them all to auto-publish. I think this was what you were experiencing.
Let me know if you have any more questions / trouble at all. |

| At the time, I did change the permissions to the Joomla files to read, write and execute. It didn't help. Should I have changed them to something else? |

It really depends on your server config. Some require:
Owner: read, write, execute,
Group: read, execute
Other: read, execute
or for chmod, 755 |
