| Would you rather Thyme be a Joomla component rather than provide Joomla Studio? |
| Heck no! I love the flexibilty of Joomla Studio and I couldn't live without event lists. |

| Yes! Joomla Studio is too complicated. I just want to install something and be done with it. |

UPDATE - Out of respect for Joomla's licensing guidelines (GPL), Thyme can never be released as a stand-alone Joomla! component.

| Anything that makes the calendar more Joomla specifc will be greatly appreciated and will increase the number of Joomla users. |

Hi,
I've got to say I'm torn.
If I was doing something for a personal site I would love the flexibility of Joomla Studio but then time wouldn't be an issue (pardon the pun) - but when implementing for other people speed is of the essence.
If a full on joomla component had all of the various 'widgets' built in with the correct admin options to enable / disable then this would probably be the way to go.
Of course you'd also end up having to create a whole raft of modules to go with the component.
My advice: make it a suite of compoents and modules, make it comprehensive, keep it secure and charge more.

You really must provide deeper integration that a Joomla! component.
From a first-timer's standpoint, the Joomla Studio is far too complex. You can't create/edit events from Joomla. The steps to publish a calendar and associated event views are too arcane, and have a lot of steps one could never figure out without thorough study of the documentation.
In short, you have far to go before you arrive at a simple, straightforward, easy-to-use calendar component for Joomla. But moving it to a true component would be a great first step.

I don't mind the requirement for Joomla Studio, but the users have to be able to work with the product entirely from the pretty web front-end interface.
You are reviewed well within Joomla Extensions.
If you want my dollars, you will need integration with front-end item additions. I don't mind purchasing stable, secure, maintained components. Heck, half of my www.woodwardfamily.org family website is build using purchased elements!
I certainly would vote for a component and module that provide mini-calendar and main-body calendar elements. |

| In the current version of Joomla Studio, you may add events from the front-end. |

If this is an either/or, then Studio, definitely.
Thyme often surprises me for its usability and cleverness, but I can't imagine a Joomla component being nearly as powerful and flexible.
If it's a both, then it would be great to have a few of the modules and bots preloaded with the JS install. Actually, since a number of the widjets and modules are fairly simple, a JS install which initialises a vanilla set would be quite nice and would simplify/speedup the process of a new install for most Thyme/Joomla integration.
Cheers,
Patrick. _________________ Home: eJournal

I have trouble voting on those options. I would only want to see it as a full component iif I did not lose the flexability and power of the core Thyme. This is how I have integrated it so far on the main calendar page
http://www.ortingreunion.com/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,30/
and then I can do just what I need on other pages as well

To convert fully to a Joomla component, it would take a whole lot of work on your part, because I could never find the time to do everythign in Thyme and build it myself into Joomla.
You do great stuff, so I am sure if you do make it more jJoomla specific, you will do a first class job. |

I would like to see this become a component of Joomla, with the ability for registered users to not only add events, but also pass the user ID to the DB and allow a CB plugin to be developed to pull their appointments/events into their CB profile and/or cross reference a copy with another registered user.
I just downloaded your trial and am going to see what I can do with it, but unless I can pass something to the DB to show ownership of an event, I cannot very well use this. I'm either going to have to build my own or pay someone to give me a solution for this type of an interface in Joomla.
So far, I like what I see, but doubt (like all the other calendar components for Joomla) that I can make it work for what I'm seeking.
Thanks,

While I am sure that in the long run I will come to appreciate the Joomla Studio, right now, I don't have the time to figure all this out.
I had a client for whom I suggested we look at Thyme, and he just went out and bought it. Thyme has functionality that we need overall, but the complexity of publishing the output in the manner needed is troubling.
It would be great if there were a few modules such as latest events and and minical that had configurable parameters from the back end (such as found in jcal pro and extcal) to get one started.
I'm afraid that the complexity is going to postpone the deployment of the site. There has got to be an easier way. I can't say that I would recommend Thyme to most without the availability of such modules.
Back to slugging it out with the documentation. |

I second this.
I'm sure that a Joomla component can do a lot of things, if it is cleverly done, but often I bump into requirements an author hasn't thought of. I end up hacking the component. If I do have to hack, then I prefer hacking in an environment like Joomla Studio. |
