Is it possible for a normal user to create a private calendar and add events to it?
The only way that I have found a normal user can add events to a personal calendar is to have the Admin create the calendar and assign the user to it. Obviously, this give the Admin easy access to the user's private calendar.

Hi BalloonMan,
The admin account can see everyone's calendar and everyone's events. There's no option to change this. In Thyme, the admin is "The Man". |
