What would be the code to list the category instead of the calendar?

I'm not clear on this. Can I still use Joomla Studio to build a module for current events on my home page?

Also, I have the category displayed with the title in the calendar. I don't get why you can't click on the category and either just see those events or go to the event list of just those events.
