By default, Thyme allows each user to set their own options. When you set Thyme's options while logged in, you are actually changing your options. To set the default options for Thyme use the Default Options item in Thyme's Admin panel.
The options chosen there will apply to public users as well as new users when they are created. If you wish to force the same options for all users, select the Force default options for all users option in Admin -> Site Settings -> Misc.
